Working Hands Farm is committed to making a difference in our community.  We believe that it is not enough to provide the highest quality produce to those who can afford it, but also to those who cannot.  As a young man growing up in Portland, my mother supported 3 children on a meager income and I know first-hand the hardships struggling families face.  I also know the diet of low-income families; tv dinners, white bread sandwiches, frozen burritos, etc… anything quick, easy, and full of calories.  If it weren’t for a few dedicated individuals who stepped in to provide my family with fresh produce, I am sure that I would be facing many of the same debilitating health challenges that plague our nation today.

This season we will start a pilot project that will provide a few local families in need with a CSA box of their own.  We will provide them with fresh fruits and vegetables and easy-to-prepare recipes that maximize nutritional intake and use little of the precious time moms like Brian’s have in a day.  We encourage our members to give a little extra when they sign up.   100% of all donations will go towards feeding a family in need.  And even if you are not a member of our CSA program, we encourage you to donate and help us provide fresh food to a struggling Portland family.  If you would like to make a donation by cash or check please email us at workinghandsfarm@gmail.com and we will give you the details.
